Jett N Blue Drifter
2016. 15.1H AQHA. Mare.
$26,500 - SOLD! Congrats to her new owners!
For all my blue roan lovers... meet the horse of your dreams! Big pretty and fancy broke blue roan mares of this caliber are incredibly hard to find, especially one with her combination of presence, training, experience, and disposition.
“Denim” is a gorgeous 2016 AQHA-registered blue roan mare standing a stout 15.1 hands. There is something about a fancy broke, easy to ride, and exceptionally comfortable mare that just is the complete package. She is the kind you can happily sit on all day long. Her movement is effortless, featuring a slow, cadenced jog that you can easily push to a big ground-covering extended trot, and a balanced, collected lope. She is soft in the bridle, responsive to leg pressure, and carries herself beautifully.
I would absolutely love to see this mare in the Ranch Riding or Ranch Pleasure pen. She is an exceptional mover with a huge stride and natural presence. Denim is a finished drill team, queening, and flag horse who knows her job and genuinely enjoys performing. She thrives on the energy of a crowd and handles the excitement with confidence and poise. While she can have plenty of gas in the tank when asked, she is not what I would consider hot or overly forward. She is remarkably adjustable, reads her rider well, and settles right into whatever job is asked of her.
With her quality in movement, responsiveness, and overall elegance, she could also transition beautifully into Western Dressage. Denim has been hauled extensively to shows, events, parades, and exhibitions with a youth rider for 5+ years. She is the kind of mare you are proud to unload from your trailer and showcase wherever you go.
Outside the arena, Denim absolutely loves trail riding. Whether you're checking fences, moving cattle, enjoying a beach ride, or spending the day on the trails, she is relaxed, dependable, and enjoyable. She remains calm when working cattle and doesn't get rattled when things become a little lively. Her long, ground-covering stride naturally puts her in the lead, a role she happily embraces. Brave and confident on a loose rein, she'll willingly go wherever you point her and will take care of you!
Water crossings, bridges, logs, steep terrain, rough footing—none of it phases her. She carefully watches where she places her feet and navigates obstacles with confidence. She has excellent body control, side-passes easily, and will work a gate with ease. Traffic, ATVs, tractors, dogs, cattle, flags, and general commotion are all part of her everyday world.
Denim has a true "yes ma'am" attitude and absolutely zero mare attitude. One of the things I appreciate most about her is her reliability. She does not get fresh with time off and rode off quietly and gently for us after an extended break. No buck, rear, bolt, or nonsense. No lunging required—simply pull her out of the stall or pasture and go enjoy her.
On the ground, Denim is just as pleasant as she is under saddle. She is kind, respectful, easy to handle, and gets along well with other horses. She is not ear-pinning, aggressive, and has never offered to kick. Sometimes you have to remind her to stay out of your space, and she will frisk you for a cookie! She has no stall vices, loads and hauls beautifully, and is excellent for both the veterinarian and farrier.
In the spirit of full transparency, during her first week with us last year, she did set back on our hot walker, she seems to not do well on a walker, as her owner has notated this as well. She has been perfectly fine for us in our cross ties and being tied to the post.
Denim sells with a complete pre-purchase veterinary statement of soundness (performed 6/16/26) and will radiograph CLEAN. She is 100% sound and ready for her next owner to enjoy. She recently had her teeth floated, and has been adjusted by our chiropractor, and has a current coggins. She has excellent black feet and is currently shod with steel shoes on the front, though she has previously gone barefoot and can easily go either way. Several years ago, Denim sustained an injury when her fetlock became caught in a cattle panel. She received treatment and rehabilitation under the care of ESMS’s sports medicine team. As a result of the injury, she carries some cosmetic scar tissue on the right rear fetlock. She has since been evaluated and cleared by multiple sports medicine veterinarians to return to full work and has remained sound over the years. She does not flex positive on this fetlock at all – and we have vet statements stating this. The residual scarring is strictly cosmetic and should not affect her comfort, performance, or usability. Her owner does take impeccable care of her as she receives massage therapy/pemf, weekly hair braiding, and has chosen to keep her on Platinum CJ in her grain as well as has been getting Adequan as she wants her feeling her absolute best.
I will be very selective about where this mare goes, horses like Denim simply do not come along every day. She has been cherished throughout her life, spending five years with her previous owner before their children left for college. Most recently, she was purchased by a lady in her 70s here in Texas to enjoy as a trail and arena partner. Denim stepped into that role seamlessly and took wonderful care of her older owner. Due solely to health-related circumstances, her owner has made the difficult decision to allow someone else the opportunity to enjoy this exceptional mare. Denim will come with her custom halter, stall name plate, and boots.
If you have been searching for a beautiful, safe, versatile, well-trained blue roan mare with a wonderful mind and an impressive resume, Denim may very well be the complete package for you.
