“Poncho” is a darling 𝟏𝟑.𝟑/𝟏𝟒𝐇, 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟒, 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐐𝐇 𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 who is the 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐅𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐍𝐘 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲. If you can sit up in the saddle – you can ride Poncho! He is as close to 𝐛𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 as a horse can get, and is 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 by anything. Looking for 𝐌𝐫. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐄𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐞 that can roll with the punches, in a 𝐛𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 package? You have found him! He has been used at a kids camp his whole life, and has seen just about everything there is to see. Kids can run all around him, balloons, tarps, flags, cattle, banners, loud noises, traffic, commotion, wildlife etc – he has been exposed to it all. He has ZERO buck, rear, bolt, etc. He has been used for 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬, 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬, 𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬. He rides in a halter, bareback, double, sideways, you can flip off him, or even slide off his butt- Poncho does not mind! Poncho is the perfect size for a young buckaroo, but is big enough for an adult as well. If your confidence has been shaken, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐍𝐄𝐄𝐃 𝐏𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐧! He is so incredibly 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝, 𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭, 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭, and puts up with all the crazy kiddo shenanigans. He will happily go in the front or the back of the trail ride, and can ride out alone safely. He walks through water, over bridges, jumps logs, navigates down between gullies, and is sure footed across any terrain you throw at him. He has a basic handle on him, a super comfortable lope, and a good whoa. Ride him once a week, or once a month – he is the same broke, seasoned, 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠. I would consider him on the lazier side, more of a “push” ride, but any kid that wants to lope around can easily. He is easy to catch, loads onto any trailer with ease, stands quiet for hours in the cross ties, and can be handled by small children on the ground. Turns out well with others, and has a fluffy winter coat! He has good stall manners, and has no vices. Poncho will put his head low on the ground for little ones to bridle/halter, and has 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬. I could go on and on about how 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝, 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐲 this guy is! However, he will not back out of a trailer, you will have to turn him around to step off – this is the only negative I have found while doing my extensive evaluation. Tested, tried and true, mom approved – you will want your kiddo in the safe hooves of Poncho! Kids camp has shut their doors due to COVID – their loss, is your gain!

I am telling you guys – this one is SOLID & SAFE for any family that wants to get into horses, or introduce their young ones to horses! Teeth just floated by my certified equine dentist, coggins just pulled, feet freshly trimmed, he is ready to go! Excellent for farrier & vet! He does have a scar on his right hip, from a pasture injury as a yearling – it does not bother him. No known soundness or health problems.
