Meet Fat-Boy… I mean, Fabio! This 14.3-hand, 9-year-old Quarter Horse–draft cross is a unique gray sabino with a stout build, substantial draft bone, and the kind of gentle, easygoing personality that makes him a barn favorite. He is as handsome as he is kind, with a personable nature and a laid-back attitude that make him an absolute pleasure to have around.

Fabio has extensive miles outside and is exceptionally experienced on the trails. He confidently navigates rough terrain, crosses water, steps over logs, and handles hills, creeks, and unfamiliar obstacles with a steady, level-headed approach. He is sure-footed, dependable, and a true Steady Eddie down the trail. Whether you prefer to ride out alone or with a group, Fabio is happy to go wherever you point him. Front of the pack or bringing up the rear, he is content either way!

Beyond his trail experience, Fabio has also been used in the sale barn penning and moving cattle. He is comfortable around livestock and handles the activity, commotion, and fast-paced environment with a quiet mind and willing attitude. He is a versatile gelding with practical ranch experience and plenty of miles under his belt.

Fabio's calm demeanor extends to everyday life on the ranch. Traffic, bicycles, barking dogs, wildlife, farm equipment, and general commotion are all part of his world, and he takes them in stride. He can even pony other horses down the trail! Ride him once a month or once a week, and he is generally the same quiet, easygoing fellow every time. He would be the perfect family gelding, therapy barn, or for a ranch that needs another dude string mount.

For full transparency, Fabio is a laid-back horse by nature, but he is still a horse. He has not offered to buck or rear, though he did scoot forward once when something startled him in the arena. As soon as his rider picked up the reins, he settled right back into his cool-as-a-cucumber self. We mention this because, while Fabio is exceptionally gentle and sensible, we would not advertise him as a completely bombproof beginner horse for someone who lacks the confidence to handle an unexpected moment. He is not naturally hot or forward, and getting him into a lope takes a little encouragement. In fact, Fabio's preferred work ethic could best be described as minimum effort, maximum comfort! He is a professional-level grass inspector who would happily negotiate for a longer lunch break if given the opportunity.

On the ground, Fabio is every bit as likable. He is respectful, patient, and easy to handle. He stands quietly for grooming, saddling, bridling, and bathing, is easy to catch, and loads and unloads without issue. He is also broke to a mounting block and will patiently stand while his rider mounts and dismounts. Currently, Fabio is even helping babysit our yearlings. He is kind, forgiving, and tolerant with other horses, making him a valuable member of the ranch crew. Between his sweet disposition and his love for the easy life, he has certainly earned his nickname!

Fabio offers a combination that is hard to find: unique coloring, a thick, substantial build, extensive trail miles, ranch experience, and a genuinely kind disposition. He is a people-loving gelding who enjoys attention and makes everyday horse ownership feel easy. He is the sort you look forward to seeing in the barn and enjoy having along for the ride.

And because we know someone will ask: yes, Fabio can apparently smell a blade of grass from a mile away and maintain his easy-keeper figure on practically nothing! He is currently on a diet, despite his best efforts to negotiate additional hay every morning with those adorable little nickers. He firmly believes breakfast should be a buffet, while we believe his waistline has other plans. His charming personality does not make him any less of an opportunistic snack enthusiast! Due to his large stature/bone, he can easily carry a larger cowboy/cowgirl comfortably.

Fabio can go barefoot or shod and is up to date on his dental care and Coggins. A veterinary statement of soundness is on file, along with current feet X-rays. He has no known health issues and has good front feet.

If you are looking for a handsome, stout-made, well-seasoned gelding with a kind heart, a sensible mind, and the experience to enjoy life on the trails and around the ranch, Fabio is certainly worth a look. He brings plenty of quality and character to the table, with just enough personality to keep you smiling. A bill of sale will be signed by the buyer and seller upon completion of the sale.
