Incredibly honest ad – full disclosure!

Trail riders, dressage lovers, or working equitation enthusiasts on a budget—this mare is for you.

Meet Dulce, a 14.1H, 9/10 -year-old imported grade Andalusian cross mare. SAFE, SMOOTH, GENTLE, and full of HEART, she’s the kind of partner everyone wants.

Her current rider, at 74 years young, has trusted her to carry her safely across all kinds of terrain. Dulce is fearless, quiet, forward-thinking, and responsive to the aids. She’s soft in the bridle, sensible, and very in tune with her rider. She offers a butter-smooth jog and canter that are truly a pleasure to sit.

She’s also naturally cow-y and would love to try her hand at cow work. Traffic, tractors, ATVs—you name it, nothing fazes her. No prep needed—no buck, rear, spook, or bolt. She’s seen plenty of chaos and always keeps her rider safe. In fact, when another horse recently exploded on the trail, dumped its rider, and bolted through a 40-acre pasture, Dulce never flinched and calmly kept her rider secure. Dulce has had EXTENSIVE trail exposure and will confidently take you out alone or in a group. Stepping over bridges, over fallen logs, and through water comes easy and natural for her.

On the ground, Dulce is just as easy and pleasant. She ties without setting back, loads and hauls like a pro, catches easily in the field, and has no stall vices. She’s also had a few foals in her life and could easily go back to raising babies if desired. In my eyes, the perfect rider for Dulce is someone patient, kind, and passionate about trail riding. A rider with prior experience and a love for Spanish-bred horses will especially appreciate her forward-thinking mind. Those with a dressage background will also enjoy her responsive handle. While she is neither dangerous nor naughty, Dulce has too much power and sensitivity to be suitable for a complete beginner or child.

Now for full transparency: Dulce’s recent PPE noted navicular changes, as well as significant melanomas under her tail. She has been 100% sound without maintenance (just keep her shod up front), but depending on future use, she may eventually need more support. Because of these findings, she is priced accordingly.

Her owner recently purchased a western pleasure horse from me and, at her age, does not want to board two horses—so Dulce is offered to the perfect home. Current radiographs and vet records available for review below.
